If you have changed the thermostat (first thing to check), and have back-flushed the radiator (first thing to do after replacing the thermostat), then you probably have a plugged up radiator.

Have a competent radiator shop rod it out. You may not need to have the core replaced if the car has had the coolant replaced from time to time.

Most of the coolants you can buy at the local Wal Mart or auto parts store have silicon as the water pump bushing lubricant. Silicon precipitates out of solution gumming up the radiator core.

When I replace a water pump, I always replace the coolant with Mercedes Benz Brand. You can only get it at MB dealerships, and it costs twice as much, but your radiator will never plug up.

To me it's worth it, and I drive a '66 chevy.

Check to see if the coolant is low. If it is fill it up with water and then get it repaired.

if it has the 3.1 in it they are famous for running hot when you do alot of stop and go driving

Hi, i had the same problem and it was my oxygen sensor that needed replacing.
