I know it was 2 story house, is a black family last name walton or flanigan, children died from smoke inhalation, supposedly from my uncle there is a park with a memorial for the children. fathers name is john walton ( i think) moms name is deartis (walton or flanigan at that time. I have never seen my real father and have very little to go on, family is not to much help either, anyone with ideas on how i can find information without going broke please help. Would like to learn more about brothers and sisters and also possibly meet father.

First, let me say I am sorry to hear of such a tragic event.

Being that it was in 1965 and there is apparently a memorial to the children I would start by contacting the local historical society in St. Louis. They usually keep excellent records such as newspapers and memorial information. See the link below for their site. You can usually get information via e-mail. Best of luck.

GO TO A UNIVERSITY IN YOUR AREA WHICH HAS A MICROFILM LIBRARY....SEE WHICH NEWSPAPERS WERE PRINTED IN THE LOCAL AREA OF THE FIRE.....THERE SHOULD BE A STORY CONCERNING THE CHILDREN LOST IN FIRES.... 1965.... YOU MAY JUST HAVE TO TYPE THE YEAR AND HOUSE FIRES....

doing research on adults now dead if you have their ss# try ss,if not try an african american historical group in the city where the fire took place,or contact the fire dept.
The City hall by telephone or by corespondence.

go to the library they usually keep stuff like that on file, and if they an't got it then ask them how to go about finding out. they will help.... good luck.......
