No, it is going on now, and it's within each and every one of us ... between our good and evil aspects... manifestations. Ignorance prevails, and much (or, nothing, really) hangs in the balance. Humans probably look a lot like worms, from higher frames of reference.
Highly developed 'machines' ... self-evolved AI and all that ... probably won't touch us, do us any favors ... until it's done.

There will be no ultimate battle. As long as there are viruses, hackers, spyware and the option to pull a cord out of a wall, it will never happen.

Probably not. too many companies opt out of hiring a good QA staff to debug their product. The robots would just blue-screen after awhile.
