I'll be honest, I always felt that his death would be at the hands of an animal, but I thought it would be from a croc, rather than a stingray. Although I never ever agreed with his decision to dangle his infant son in front of a hungry beast such as a crocodile, but Steve Irwin did a lot for animals from every part of this world. He did his best to help animals in need of assistance. He made us aware of the needs of specific animals. It is such a great loss. I watched Animal Planet's tribues to him today. It made me very sad. He'll be missed. I know that his wife and his children will carry on his legacy.

This may go down as the understatement of the year, but here goes, wow this is sad and ironic. He was an adventerous spirit and will be remembered fondly, I loved watching his show when I was a kid. I hope his wife and kids will not only love his memory but also continue his legacy with wildlife conservation.

It is ironic that, after years of handling crocodiles and poisonous snakes, he was killed by a placid stingray. However, animals do have their defense mechanisms, and if they feel threatened, they will defend themselves. Even though Steve meant the ray no harm, it seems that after all of his bigger challenges, it was a rather docile ray that had the last word.
One thing that Steve said on CNN in a 2004 interview with Larry King -- he said that animals get AIDS. That is false. The H in HIV stands for "Human" ... animals cannot get this virus!

I think it's sad; he seemed like a good guy. I also think he took far too many risks with his life when he had small children. How is this going to be explained to a three-year-old? That child is going to ask for its father over and over everyday and not understand why daddy is gone. Children need their fathers and it just isn't fair to them to take these risks.

I think it's sad, the world lost a very good man. I think he was blessed to go out doing what he loved, though. My prayers to his family.

A great man, in many ways a model for us all.
I expected something would tag him sooner or later, but much later would have been better.
Thanks, Steve.

Ironically, I'd never seen his show or any of his stuff, but even I knew who he was and felt kinda depressed and saddened that he was killed.
