Generally you will need to do an undergraduate degree first and then apply to medical school. Your undergraduate degree does not necessarily have to be in science but you will need at least a year of biology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physics, calculus, and English. However, each medical school is different so you need to check with the schools. You can usually access most of the information you need on line.

These sites should help you.

Talk to the guidance counselor at your high school. You will need to do biology, chemistry, and physics in high school.

contact the university/college that you will be attending and ask them for the course curriculum and they will send you a free prospectus...with all the courses. It is not too early to make an appointment with the uni.coll career advisor...even if it is not the university or college you will be attending. Just having the courses in writing in front of you is not enough...you are going to have many questions...so make the appointment. Right after High school ...you will need to do the basic English , Math, History and a few others. I was pre-med and needed a bachelors degree in science to start with (four years). I chose nursing so that I would have earning power during med school. You are going to need to be very committed..join a student support group at uni. Good luck

Most Universities in Canada offer pre-Med course study. Try talking to a guidance counsellor at your chosen school. They'll be able to point you in the right direction.

I practice in Canada. Virtually all applicants for medical school have a BSc ... in one or more of the biological sciences. An MSc helps...but a BSc is the least you can get by with.
