A lot of people think about racism when it is against blacks. However, i did a study on the sports in college and i've noticed that there are no Asian Americans playing in the nba. I am not talking about those asians from other countries coming over like Yao Ming and Zhi Zhi Wong. Im talking about asian americans who grew up in the states. Now it could be true that most asians are short compared to african americans but I see a lot of tall and very athletic asian americans playing in higschool around the country but never get a chance to play when they go into a University. Is it because they're asian? The NBA is prodominantly black which is fine but if you're an asian american wanting to be in the nba, you must do more to impress the recuites just because of your race. Is this true?

I guess the college game must be racist as well... I don't see too many Asian-American players on any All American teams lately.

Actually, it's the sportswriters who are the racists...they're the ones that pick the All American teams.

Of course the NBA doesn't care what color anybody is...if anything, they'll go out of their way to get a white guy in there... you telling me that there aren't ANY black players the Cleveland Cavs could have signed instead of Ilgauskas? That guy SUCKS!

Let me start out by saying that I am black....

I think it's funny that when a league's majority of players are white, then they are racist, when a majority of players are black, they are not racist.

On that note, I do agree that the NBA is not racist. I think that they will always choose the best player for their teams. If they were racist, then we wouldn't have people playing from overseas. From my experience.... growing up white-trash in good ole Kansas, I never once saw an Asian kid playing for any teams anywhere. Asian people have better things to do, like keep up with the stereotype that they are smarter than Americans!

On a better note, the Asian league's not racist!

No this is not a racist league. Yao Ming isn't even good, he get boomed on by Kobe Bryant every year. And let's not discuss him going against Shaq. Just because their is such thing as a tall athletic Asian, doesn't mean they should automaticly be put in the NBA. They need the same talent everybody else has to have to get in.

I am Asian american and let me say..we will have an american born Asian in NBA one day..not in the near future though. It'll be harder for this person because they will ahve a harder time convincing div. 1 college coaches that a scrappy asian kid can run the offense on a team. Just like how we recently ahd balck quarterbacks dispelled, we will have the Asian american basketball player dispelled.

The NBA drafts based on talent and potential. Maybe there just aren't any Asian Americans that are catching the attention of the NBA GMs.

Six thousand people men try out for the NBA every year. They hire 60. They could care less if you were plaid - you just have to be a great player.

sprinkles - you are an idiot.

Now that I got that out in the open, the NBA isn't a racist league. If you're good, you're good.
