what or how can I get my mom to take vitamins that she needs? She is 49 yrs old, going through menopause, depression and lots of stress. She thinks her Pepcid and Aleve cures everything. Don't get me started, it's really dumb. I try to get her to take vitamins but she won't, because she isn't the consistant type. Pharmaceutical drugs are not an option for her so don't even offer. Please hit me up with some ideas. Thanks

Try Viactin Chocolate chews I got them for my mom and she loves them because of the chocolate, but they have other flavors, also. I would tell her at her age osteoporosis is a good chance if she doesn't start to prevent it she will end up at 55 in a nursing home with a broken hip from a simple slip on the ice and then she will get more complications soon after!

Your mom needs to see a doctor. There is more going on than even vitamins can cure. If you can't talk her into going, maybe she will listen to another adult -- a good friend or someone she really looks up to. The depression is what worries me the most, as it doesn't go away by itself and can get worse.

You are a very thoughtful and caring daughter, and it's obvious you love your mother. Talk to your mother and let her know how much you care and how concerned you are. Maybe she'll do something about her health if you ask her to do it for you, even if she doesn't care about herself. Put it to her like this: "After all, I only have one mother, and I want you to be around for a long, long time. Won't you humor me and please see a doctor so I can put my mind at rest?" Maybe that might get her out of her lethargy. Good luck!

Google on depression. There are some over the counter things like Saint John's Wort that are supposed to have some benefit. Some say soy milk helps with hot flashes. But really, you've made good suggestions to your mom. The rest is up to her.

tell her you love her and your just concerned for her life. If you just basically are blunt and say your life may be robbed of years if you don't even try to take even just one multi vitamin a day, and live a healthy life. Show her facts research on line and books/magazines. Get hard facts to show her, if she still doesn't want to, well that's her choice and her life! I hope everything goes well and just remember shes your mom and it might be hard to hear her child "telling" her what to do, be suggestive not authoritative

Check out www.hufa.org - the symptoms link.

If you can do any of the cooking/meal planning you can get food on the table that has the vitamins your mom needs.
