Shouldn't there be somekind of restriction while the show's (cut some scenes with murder, blood, etc) on TV but show it all on the DVD (that is R-RATED)?? I mean doesn't the whole family usually there? Then they go and mark DVD r-rated. WHAT FOR? The same DVD is on the TV without cut out scenes. Please lighten me up...:)

Some shows have two versions--one for American tv, and one for overseas viewing, which allows for more violence and nudity. The DVDs usually have the extra footage shot for the overseas versions, not to mention unedited language used in interviews and outtakes. I tend to use reviews to let me know if there's stuff not suitable for kids unless its something obvious like Sex & the City or the Sopranos!

It's the cut scenes and bonus features that make it rated R.

Before those shows start they always have viewer discretion warnings.
