I suggest you go to www.dell.com, then you can build what you want. I was in your position once and trust me dell is better..

Ive had an emachine for a few years and it's treated me well - however, Best Buy has not. They suck and will totally try to screw you out of every penny they can. If you buy there you have to be vicious and demand only what you NEED. No warrenty or gold cables or any of the other crap they tried to sell me. If I were you I'd hop on some of the back to school specials through Dell or Gateway. Good Luck!

A friend of mine owns a computer repair business. He say eMachines are very bad. I bought an HP at Wal-Mart real cheap, 2 years ago. They almost give them away when Christmas nears.

I just have to agree with Eileen said about Best Buy being jerks. They have a great selection, great deals alot of the time, and good (but expensive) warenty ----but they won't help you worth crap.

I (/my dad) bought a laptop there(actually, a guy helped my dad order it online while in the store), and when I opened it, the screen was messed up (well, there was 1 pixel that always glowed green, but for $1400 it better be f'n perfect), but they wouldn't let us exchange it because it was ordered online. They said we had to buy another one (and weren't 100% sure we could even get all our money back). My dad chewed them out though, so they saved their last one for us and let us exchange it (but even when we got there, the guy we talked to on the phone sent us to someone else ---WHO WOULDN"T LET US EXCHANGE IT!! --luckily my dad chewed them out again (he's a large man, so they complied) and I got my kewl computer...

end rant. lesson: be wary if you buy from best buy!!

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Don't do it!!!!!!! It's a trick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had an eMachines. It happens to be the very PC that made me switch to Mac.

Get a Mac Mini, they start at only $600. You will love it!

It depends on what you want you emachine for. If it is for basic needs, then yes, it is a good price, but if you want it for multifunctions and load it up, then it will slow, and you will get what you pay for. Find a refurbished Dell and you will be safer.
