Hello!

I wonder if the old fashion rule of only wearing white between Memorial Day and Labor Day may have something to do with white clothing generally being a lighter material and reflecting the sun's rays to make the wearer more comfortable in the summer heat. This may have been true in years past when fashion dictated that almost every inch of skin be covered, thus the long dresses and pants of years past. Also, darker colored clothes were generally heavier, thus they were more appropriate outside of summer.

Now, I think this fashion belief is almost null and void with advances in fabric and dying. There are now lightweight dark clothes and heavy white garments. I wear white year-round, although I don't wear too much dark in the summer since it absorbs heat.

it gets dirty becasue of foliage and then snow and then pollen in the spring. The only safe time to wear white is late spring (MEMorial day) to the end of the summer (labor day)
