I'm a stay at home mom (for now anyway) so the TV is always on and my boy loves to watch it (he's 2 months), think maybe it's because of the colors and stuff?? even during tummy time, he actually lifted his head 90 degrees and most of his chest so he could look at it.. I have noticed that he's pretty nosey though, needs to know everything that's going on.. Just wonderin if other babies do it too?

my baby likes to watch it for a little while, but then he gets bored, thank goodness! i think it's okay, and even good for them (if it's a learning video or tv program) if they watch a small amount, but i believe that television is bad for all of us if we watch too much.

It is normal for him to be interested in the pictures and sound coming from the TV, but it could be a problem in the making. Try getting some of the soft baby books that have the bright colors and pictures. He can play with it, chew on it and it will not hurt the books or your son.

Absolutely!!

My baby loves watching the football (dh LOVES that!). I think it's because of the colours, movement and often they have closeups of people's faces. There is a lot going on with the TV. I found it to be most useful for cutting my baby's fingernails. She usually pulls her hands away, but with the tv on she gets absorbed in that and i can cut all of them. That's pretty much the only time the tv goes on now with her around. I prefer reading her books and looking at grass etc.

Yes, i think it is the colours that attract babies to the T.V my son watches it all the time, when he was 2 months he watched everything that moved on the television and now he loves cartoons and hes almost a year. and as for always needing to know whats going on hes curious with everything in the world i mean hes amazed because hes never seen anything before.

Yes--very common. Try putting on some Einstein for him. It's slower paced and less stimulating for little minds. You don't want his brain to get tired by all the fast moving pictures and sounds--that could cause problems later on. Try to limit it to small doses of TV at a time.

I do not let my son watch tv it sets up a bad habit. Every now and then he will watch a baby einstein or baby faith video. But babies pick up words and phrases on tv and it is not good to let your tv baby sit your child.

My grandaughter is the same way. Likes all the cartoon shows. Even when I'm feeding her her bottle she has to have her head turned so she can watch it while she's drinking. She is now 4 mo. old and has been doing it since she was 2 mo. old too.
