Does anyone think that Dr. Phil is a self inflated douche bag? He thinks he can fix everyones problems in 20 minutes, and then throws in a stupid analogy. Does anyone else think like this? Also, have you noticed that his audience is 99.9% women? I think he and Oprah are in cahoots to raise an army and take over the world

Doctor Phil is just an old fogey who gets his kicks by telling people how to live their lives.

While I am no fan of talk show hosts, especially Dr. Phil, I believe you are underestimating what he does. Never thought I would type those words. The help he provides the guests on his show does not begin and end with the 15-20 minute segment that is aired. A lot of counseling goes on before and after the show. He often provides resources for extended care if needed. Still, I don't appreciate his hokey-ness or his self-righteous tone. Then again, in most cases, the people on the show have sought him out for help and put him in the position to judge them and "tell 'em like it is." You on the other hand have a choice to not watch any of this. You can change the channel or turn off the TV. I would never allow a TV personality annoy me, as long as I've got the remote.

First, if you've ever paid attention to the show, you will have heard him say more than once that what you see on TV is just a small part of what goes on to help those people because he knows he can't cure their problems in just 20 minutes. However, I've noticed that far too often he generalizes and really doesn't listen to those people when they're up there. That is annoying. I think he may help some people if only to get help for themselves. That's not a bad thing. As to his audience being mostly women, it's taped around nine no later than ten in the morning. Unless they are on vacation to that area, which I think accounts for the men, it would tend to be women who may be at home or would take off for a taping. Men would go to the "business man's special" at the ball park.

Thnak God, someone who agrees with me. I know Dr. Phil says we only see a part of what goes on and blah blah blah, but his solutions don't work for everybody, he gives people a false hope that they too can fix their problems with his ways of doing things and sometimes he is so damn hypocritical I can't stand to let the world listen to him. I actually bought his book "lovesmart" just to see what he had to say and it is the biggest crock of hooha I have ever read, and I've read Joyce Meyer books. This man and his wife spend every day on this show pretending they are so damn happy with each other and real people know life is not like that, marriage is not like that. I tried his potty training advice on my son. I got better results throwing cheerios in the toilet and having him aim at them. It should have been Dr. Phil's pictures made up real small instead of cheerios though. As far as Oprah goes, I congratualte her on her success in making the women of the world believe in things that don't exist, like real men and fairy tales. She has mad eher money and puts some of the big CEO's and execs to shame on her way of lying to make money. But hey, she worked for it. I wish I could believe there were some sort of conspiracy between the 2 of them for raising an army, but I just don't see Dr. Phil waging war on anything or anyone. He'd be too busy analyzing them and trying to counsel them.

i watched him once for about 10 minutes. the texas? accent, plus the platitudes, plus his obese republican look, plus a certain intuition that he's into money and "power", etc. made 10 minutes more than enough. however, during this time, he did manage to mention that he felt that someone's questioning him about his weight, since he has published a diet book, was unjustified because, although "hefty" it was all muscle. i began giggling uncontrollably as his numerous chins wiggled as he was mouthing this lie, with a totally straight face. he is definitely destined for a fundie pulpit and/or used car sales at any time. this country certainly admires its narcissist sociopaths, does it not? ;-) totally repugnant is my summation of his "persona"(non grata) btw i think oprah actually uses an inflated douchebag, or, at least, should. they both lend new meaning to "self absorbed".

Dr. Phil ain't even a doctor.....

He's a fraud and, yes, a self inflated douchebag. Seems that being abusive and verbally offensive is good for tv.

I think anyone who goes from being Oprah's lawyer or "advisor" as they now claim, to a psychologist with a talk show has to be a bit full of himself...although he has done alot to help many people, he takes full credit for everything that happens positively to his guests...those that fail miserably with his advice or guidance are made to "own up" to their actions...now HOW'S THAT WORKING FOR YOU?

I wouldn't hold it against him ... he found a schtick that works. It's not his fault if so many people are suckers for it.

Sure, anybody with half a brain could do what he does, but if somebody offered me that kind of money, I'd do it too!

I don't think they will take over the world, but I do not watch either one of them.
