Because we all want to look like you, we just won't say it out loud. This is between you and I, ok?

It is supposed to make you look thinner and makes your muscles look more toned. I've never gone to a tanning salon because if I'm outside 10 minutes I seem to tan. I don't think it is healthy either and there has been a rise in skin cancer cases the past few years and some of the blame has gone to the number of tanning salons. I don't know the racism area of your question. I'm part Filipino so thats why I tan so easily.

Because some white people are all pale and look like Casper, which is so unattractive. So they go to a tanning salon or go out in the sun and tan with some sun screen, so they can get all light and crisp. It's completely healthy, but I don't know about tanning salons being safe. Allot of people end up dead or with infectious diseases going to tanning salons, but hey it works faster. A lot of old white people tan more then younger ones, because when they get older they get whiter and more paler. It's simply a matter of science and age and completely harmless.......well sometimes!

A white person could never attain the color of blacks by tanning. That's an genetic impossibility. I'd never want black skin because it's prone to razor bumps, keloid scars, and ashyness and looks really dull and too dark...however, I do like the look of a golden tan in the summer time.

Oh, and Bonnie...after you straighten your hair with dangerous burning chemicals (or wear a weave or a wig)-which the vast majority of the black female population does, bleach your skin, get your nose narrowed and put in some blue contact lenses to look just like Beyonce, Lil' Kim, and Janet Jackson..then stop complaining about the .0001% of white girls with lip injections or maybe you can just become half-white like Halle Berry and Alicia Keys. (now that is hard to get..lol)..!

Most people find tan skin more attractive than white or black skin. Some black people are always trying to get lighter and some white people are always trying to get darker. They are both shooting for the same color.

Tan skin is in style right now for a very basic reason: Tan skin means time in the sun lounging which means you probably don't have to work. For this same basic reason, pale skin used to be sylish because it was a sign of someone who stayed indoors all day and didn't have to labor in the sun. Right now, pale skin usually means someone who works in an office all day. Dumb reason to give yourself skin cancer, but then humans are pretty dumb sometimes.

Some people do it to be more attractive I would think. Some people do it to get a base tan, that way when they go on vacation to a much sunnier location, they will not burn quite as easily than if they were a pastey white. There might be other reasons out there, but I dont know any more.

I'm white and I never go in the sun without sunscreen and I don't tan in tanning salons. I was born with white skin that burns, so I figure I wasn't meant to tan lol.

First of all, it's not only us "WHITE" people who do the tanning. Trust me when I say we're not trying to look black. Some people just over do their tanning sessions, and others do it every now and then to keep a nice skin tone. If you can't understand it, don't try to. You're making it seem like we're being hypocritical in this matter because you say most of us "HATE" black people, yet we're trying to look like them. That has no connection what-so-ever. The way I feel about non-whites has nothing to do with how I want my appearance to be.

Think of all the "black" people who hate whites, yet they'll get a hair weave to have hair like WHITE people do. And think of how so many of them act like us because they want to be like us.

Tanning isn't a matter of wanting to be black. If that were the case don't you think we should go the full mile and wreck our hair into a rats nest and have corn rows? NO.

LOL...I know!!! That's a good question and great statement by the way. I want to know too! If you know you're going to get skin cancer, then why still bake in the sun? I mean, they say things about blacks, about our skin color and lips, but yet they're out baking to death...literally, and getting lip injections! I don't get it!

Yes, some white people look orangey and ridiculous because they tan too much. But just because somebody likes to get a little color does not mean they want to look black. It's just that pale, pasty skin can look very unattractive in summer clothes. A little healthy glow is nice to have.

By your logic, black people who relax their hair are trying to look white?
