It depends - If they deposited it in a bank, you can put a stop payment on it up to 30 days, and they will debit their account for the check.

If they cashed it at a bank, then you cannot get it back.

YOUR bank is not going to lie about a stop payment on a check. Think about this. Why did 'your friend' need to cash a check through YOU to get cash to send a money order ? Why didn't she just go to her BANK and do it, or why didn't she send her personal check to cover the rents, if she had sufficient funds ? This person isn't a friend. She's a lying scam artist, and you're the victim. With any kind of luck, you will eventually get your money back and will hopefully think about what you do BEFORE you do it.
