I applied to 6-8 different companies before getting my first job. I saved the jobs that I really wanted until the end of my job search process. My first few interviews / applications were good for getting my "story" and interview style down.

For my first job (in high school) I applied at about 2 or 3 places.
For my first job out of college, I applied to about 15 places before getting hired.

Other than high school jobs where my school got them for me, my first real job was secured when walking into a hardware store in the neighborhood that I moved to at 18. There was no sign on the door and I simply asked if they were hiring. The lady said they weren't but took my name and phone number on a sheet of paper. Within an hour she had her husband call me to return for a very informal interview and was hired on the spot. Now, that's a very unique situation to have fallen into; however, ever since I have been able to sell myself for a job very quickly and I only have high school education.

i quit my job 3 weeks ago, i moved 2 weeks ago and wednesday i went looking for a job, i saw a help wanted sign went in to fill out an application and as soon as i walked in and asked for the application the owner of the place and a couple of other ladies started talking to me and before i actually filled out the application, i got the job!!!!

probably one (that was like 20 years ago), however I have always been a hustler
my last job search, this past three months, took about 20 apps to get three hits to land one job, I am learning to zero in better
prior to that (three years ago) i applied for about 50 jobs to get 20 hits to get one job

I'm gonna use my first real job--the one I got after I graduated from college.
It took me about 10 resumes to get me my first job.

i've got utilized for Safeway, Coles, Kmart, Subway, Pancake parlour and enormous W yet no respond yet from any. the enormous W place I utilized for is accessible so heres hoping I a minimum of get an interview.
