MY WIFE SAYS THE HOUSE IS HER FINANCIAL SECURITY
SINCE SHE DOES NOT HAVE A 401K,ETC.-the reality is that
she has as much assets as I do. NEVERTHE LESS- SHE IS
WILLING TO BE DIVORCED OVER IT -WE HAVE BEEN SEPARATED 8 MONTHS- AND SHE SO FAR HAS BEEN NOT
WILLING TO NEGOTIAITE ON THIS AT ALL- MUCH LESS
GIVE ME ANY GUARANTEE IN RETURN HOW LONG SHE WILL
STAY MARRIED-WHICH TO ME IS THE MORE IMPORTANT ISSUE. i KNOW EVERYBODY'S AUTOMATIC RESPONSE
IS TELL HER TO GO f**k off - but the problem is
I love her and I would miss her alot-i ahd been married for 12 years- but yet i dont want to ber screwd also-
worse case scenario for me- she gets all this money-
then thing s falre up- and we get back to divorce in a year or so
and i am out mucho buckos.
WHAT SHOULD I DO ??????????????????

The only details that I can add to this stiory
is that there was no cheating, physical abuse, etc. normal argument s and fighting
my wife is used to getting her own way
and is very dominant. My guess is she
got frustrated with the marriage, wanted to possibly throw in the towel, and was
trying to cover her *** so to speak- in
a financial way.

Laws are different in different states, but if you are in a "no-fault" state you will have to divide everything equally. Your best bet is to seek the advice of an attorney. You can have an hour consult for, usually, less than $200. (I paid $150 for mine.)
Take all of your financial statements including all of your married assets as well as debt. Yes, you both share the debt also. Doesn't matter whose name credit cards or vehicles are in.
Do not deed the house over to her since she can say you agreed to give her the house. If there are no children, (you don't mention any) a judge will tell you to divide things up equitably. If you can't agree, he/she will decide for you. Which basically means selling everything and splitting the $$ down the center.
I'm sorry you are going through this. I went through it all a few years ago. My husband decided he didn't want to be married anymore. We got divorced last year after 3 year separation. I did get the house and our stuff because that's what he wanted. But we had to make it look as if we were dividing things up evenly for the judge. We are still friends, but financially he is starting over. He lives in a crappy apartment; has an 8 year old vehicle with 200,000 miles on it and he struggles. I am not trying to depress you anymore. I'm just trying to help you from my experience.
It seems to me that when she gets what she wants, she'll file for divorce. You should try to protect yourself.
I'd be happy to email with you one-on-one if you'd like
Good luck.

There is something definitely wrong with the picture. Your wife's financial security is YOUR social security unless you change it through divorce. If I was a wife tired of being married and knew divorce was in the air, yes I would press for the house. What she is saying is give me the house and then ------ you. Even at this point I'm not sure I would want her on for even half a house, although in a divorce if it was purchased during marriage, she would be in titled to half the value. I certainly would not give in at this point because you will lose. She wouldn't (demand) ask if it was not to benefit her. Think about it. If something were to happen to you the house would be hers anyway if you remained married. She's smart enough to know that. She wants the whole thing now. My advise, don't do it.
PS Typing in all capitals is considered shouting and insulting in the internet world. Just thought I would let you know.

First of all is the house in both of your names currently? If she is using the house to "secure" her financial security I would be inclined to believe she wants this so she has the rights to something so she can file for divorce and have some leverage. I understand the fact that you love her and have been married for some time but marriage is a two way street and it take 2 dedicated people to make it work. Marriage, especially a happy one, take a whole lot of work on both ends...not just one side. I wish you luck!

Ok, here is the deal, while the deed may be in your wife's name, if you have been married for 7 years or more and living in that home you are seen as cohabitating, and as such, in the event of a divorce, either party is entitled to 50/50 (or at least that is what happened to my dAd who had the house in his name and lost it). My advice to you though, is talk to a lawyer to get the idea of what the statute is in your state

Do not give in stay strong. like you said you have been separated 8months and if she is not willing to love you for who you are rather then keep mentioning the money this is not love this is a twisted game to her.. you know shes playing you for a fool and going to leave you hire and dry! Hard for you after 12years but you must tidy this up consult a lawyer and move on and get a divorce...........

Deed the house to her, take your name off of the note BUT have an attorney (your attorney) draw up papers that states that in the event of divorce, you get a percentage of the cash.

Have you gone to counsiling? thats a good first step. atleast I'd do it if i was having probs like that in my relationship. I think the only reason she would want the house deeded in her name only is that she is planning on a divorce and wants to keep it to her greedy self. I wish you the best

you should tell her that this your both of your relationship and she is being selfish, and unless its in both your names then you will file for divorce and then you will have to sell the house anyway. I find all this funny cause even if its in her name all the way you can still beat her, stupid chicks. But dont let her get away with this

Danger Will Robinson...now I ain't sayin' she a gold digger! My name is not on the deed to our house and I am fine with that. If something were to happen to my husband, it is in our will that the house goes to me. There is NO REASON for her name to be solely on that deed! I don't know, but it sounds too fishy!
