Cloudy water is caused by overfeeding. it is bacteria.

Do a half tank water change, change the filter cartridges and limit the light.

Jungle products makes a very good additive that will help compensate for over feeding, live plants work well too but they will need the light back on. I dont know what size or type of tank you have but MAYBE getting several more fish would help, PROVIDED you didnt over feed even more, LOL.

Need more info - do you have a fish in a bowl, or a decent tank with some kind of filter? What type of filter do you have? How many fish total are in the bowl / tank?

From personal experience, for the least amount of trouble, I highly recommend at least a 10 gallon tank. I've always used both an under-gravel filter and a back power filter. Only downside - if you want to keep live plants - they usually don't survive with the under-gravel filter. If the fish is in a bowl, at least 1/2 the water needs to be changed every couple of days. In tank, the time between water changes can be extended.

If you do have a tank with filtration, just do a water change - the system isn't exactly in balance yet, but the cloudy water should clear up - although do hold back a bit on feedings. For a long running established tank - try Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Inc. Accu Clear. This product basically binds together the particles that your filter is passing through - making them easier to be captured by the filter.

Any time you add a new element to your tank, either starting a new tank or adding new fish to an established tank, it takes a little while for the water to adjust, especially if you're using a biological filter(you should be). The water will be cloudy until all the various organisms that make up a healthy tank balance themselves out. As long as you aren't overfeeding, the fish are still swimming, and everything is normal when you test the water don't worry! Give it a week or so before you think about mucking about with the water. Then, if it is still cloudy, do a 20 - 30 % water change.

1) To much food - this will get you every time. Even if the bottle states "will not make water cloudy" if you put in to much it will be cloudy.

2) get Accurel F and put it in like the directions say. If you are new to this then I recommend that you put it in right before you go to bed and your tank will be clear in the morning.

If you do it while you are up you have to remember the process.
Your tank will get much more cloudy when you add the Accurel F and then it will take a good 3 to 4 hours before it clears up.

3) then you need to clean the glass and let the filter take out all of the debris. When the tank is once again clear then you change your filter and you are good to go.

DO NOT FEED AS MUCH AS THE BOTTLE SAYS TO !!!
The fish food comapnies are in business to sell food. If they can get you to feed them 10 times a day they would...

once a day and not to much or twice a day and very little each time. NO MORE.

Is the tank particularly new? it would desire to be biking (build up micro organism to break down fish wastes). This takes some weeks to 3 months to ensue, and as long as there is extra ammonia and nitrite (the two poisonous to fish) interior the tank than the micro organism can technique, they are going to proceed to reproduce very quickly - it rather is what makes the water look cloudy. as quickly as there are sufficient micro organism to transform the ammonia and nitrite to nitrate (non-poisonous in reasonable quantities), the micro organism do not reproduce as quickly and the cloudiness will bypass away. it rather is organic in new tank, or those the place drugs have killed the micro organism and that they might desire to repopulate the tank. If the cloudiness is green, it rather is a loose-floating algae which would be controled with the help of water differences and turning off the mild on the tank to avert photosynthesis. If it fairly is yellow-brown, it fairly is led to with the help of too plenty organic and organic count (death flowers or equipped up wastes), or if there is driftwood, it would desire to be leaching tannins into the water.

Did you feed them too much, could also be that you didn't let the tank build up enough of the good bacteria, there are many things it could be, check your filter see that it is running right. You can clean up the excess food if that is the problem, and if you didn't let the tank cycle long enough before you put in the fish, you will have to add chemicals to help with the job. start right or stress coat, are two that come to mind, talk to the people at the pet store see what they recommend.

More likely you've got a bacterial, or algae bloom. Algae blooms are the result to much nitrates, and light. Bacterial are the result of excess food. I'd test for nitrates and use a gravel siphon to clean the gravel, and replace 10% of the water. Repeat daily until it goes away. Note that it's unlikely what ever conditions are in your tank is more dangerous that a big water change.

Tank water filters biologically.
It takes time for the process to set itself up.
Hopefully you didn't overload the tank with fish.
Check back at the store for chemicals that will help speed things up.
If the clouding is green, make sure you got your fish from a reputable dealer and they are not infected.

If you give the fish to much food, it seems to stay cloudy, clean your tank and give less food
