In North America, the Gray Wolf is now found primarily in Canada and Alaska, with much smaller numbers in Minnesota. In 1995 wolves were reintroduced in wilderness areas of the northern Rocky Mountains. A small population of the sub-species Mexican Wolf once existed in higher elevations of the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts of Mexico but is now extinct in its native habitat.





SGT. SQUID, THAT IS SO NOT TRUE! Wolves do not belong in a zoo! They ever rarely attack/kill cattle and livestock! Get some facts man! Stop Sterotyping! These carnivores (meat eating) eat anything ranging from field mice to huge caribou. As predators, gray wolves help to maintain balance in the food web. The loss of wolves in ecosystems have lead to the overpopulation of other animal species.

Second, they tend to stick with what they hunt in the wild...caribou and deer...not fat cattle! Us humans eat more cattle meat then a small wolf pack would!


Did you know that the Gray Wolf has a larger natural distribution than any other mammal except humans. It once ranged through all of North America from the Arctic Circle to central Mexico. But because of human persecution and habitat destruction it has been eliminated from much of its original range?

In the Northern heavily wooded areas. They are making a comeback now because, for a while, there weren't very many in the U.S. I think grey wolves are beautiful!
