We all will die. It is bad for his family and sorry for them but why would anyone else need to be concerned with it?

Definitely not funny, but as you and others have said, it's kind of ironic. He became world famous for his death-defying croc-handling, then died by a stingray!
You know whose death was even more ironic? Gen. Patton survived some of the most catastrophic warfare in history, then he died crossing the street. He got hit by a car.
Anyway, I don't mean to be flippant about his death. It's definitely sad. I'm not looking forward to having my 6-year-old daughter find out about his death.

I do agree with you with your comments on Steve he was another Dr Dolittle and it's really sad that he left everything and everyone behind especially wife Teri and two kids Bindi and Bob. But he is a croc hunter not ocean hunter!!! He didn't die from a fish it was a stingray that stabbed him in the heart...

I think this is very sad news. There's nothing funny about somebody dying. There is irony attached to this death, (he was making a documentary about deadly stingrays, & knowing Steve, he probably wanted to show that man could swim near them safely) but there is nothing funny to laugh about here. His death was a freak accident. He died by an attack by a dangerous animal he was dealing with. He often worked with aggressive, deadly animals. Buth this time it was different, for he was in a vulnerable position with a usually docile creature & he took a fatal hit as his chest cavity was exposed to the attack appendage of that stingray. Irwin knew that he could one day get fatally injured while dealing with wild animals. He was in the stingray's domain & not in one man normally is in. Its too bad that this accident happened. It may turn out that it was Steve's fault in making a bad decision in this diving episode that cost him his life. An investigation may show this. Steve's death may again be a lesson to us on how to protect ourselves when diving among north Australian stingrays during a season when they are especially nervous of tiger sharks near them. Ironically, Steve may again have taught us a lesson & his death was another animal education lesson for us, just as his live's work was for us. I'm so sorry this happened to him & I feel that I lost a personal friend. I had no idea how he had impacted my psyche. I think it was his enthusiasm for life and especially his love & compassion for the animals that touched me. Definitely, his love & respect & caring for them I'll always remember.

It is definitely sad that he has died, he had a family..he will be missed and he died doing what he loved, not many of us are going to be able to have that luxury and I do find it ironic that a damn stingray killed him..I was sure it would have been a crocodile. It just goes to show you when its your time is up..it is up!

I don't think that his dead is at any way funny. Yes, he is the croc hunter but some people have forgotten that he is also a father and a husband.
RIP Steve Irwin.

I think it is very sad. I wasn't actually a fan, but he seemed to be a good guy. Young, with a wife and children. You can't say he was asking for it just because his work was dangerous. Lots of people have dangerous work. Firemen, policemen, race car drivers etc.

It's sad! The show was cool, but it's also really sad that now he has two young kids without a dad.
