I was told it would work over here after I powered it off then back on, which I have done repeatedly. Movistar is supposed to have a service agreement with Cingular. I cannot make or receive voice calls nor send text messages ... but the phone does RECEIVE text messages. Who knows ... might be the phone itself! PS. Wise cracks and answers from comedians unwelcome. Thanks!

Movistar is a Mexican cel phone provider. You have no service in the US. You have to set up service with a US service provider.
