48/100 = 12/n
48n = 1200
n = 1200/48 = 25

n/100 = 3/5
5n = 300
n = 300/5 = 60

Ok...because this is important to you, I will spare you the speech about working these problems on your own.

48% = 0.48 or 48/100 or (12*4)/(25*4) = 12/25 which is the answer you are looking for.

Working this problem to LONG way, we should arrive to the same answer,

48/100 = 12/n

Solving for n,

n=12(100)/48

n = 100/4 Recall 12*4=48

or n= 25

Check this out: 12/25= 0.48

For the second problem, just work the division

3/5 = 0.60 (recall 5x6=30)

Multiplying the answer by 100 (to obtain the %),

0.60 * 100 = 60% which is the second answer you are after.

Good luck!

ok, I'm not sure what the problem is asking exactly but.....
I believe that you should first change the %into an decimal by dividing it by 100. So you get 0.48 then you cross multiply so you get 0.48n = 12 then you divide and get n = 25.

the second problem you do the same. You make teh left side n/100 then cross multipy and get 5n = 300 then divide and get n = 60

48% = 0.48 so
.48 * n = 12
n = 12/.48

3/5 = .n/100
5*20 = 100
3*20 =.n
.n = n%

% can be read per hundred, and therefore written /100.

Both of your problems are ratio problems.
48.......12
----- = ---,
100......n

and

n........3
----- = -.
100....5

solve each equation for n.
