My son is 13 years old and today he lost his first really respected and loved "T.V. personality". My boy felt a true loss today. Steve was a very important part of my son learning about wildlife and reptiles. He felt Steve is a big part of why he wants to grow up working with animals. And THAT my friend is why Steve was COOL and so loved. I'm sure MANY boys and girls all over the world felt the same loss my son did today.

A lot of people will miss him, my kids watched him, I just wish.........no I wont say it. He loved what he did, and this was a freak accident. It wasn't on of his death defying stunts with wild animals. It's sad for his wife and kids, they are left alone now. I actually enjoyed watching him every once in a while. I even saw the episode where he got a lot of flack for holding his baby son while feeding the gator, I don't think the baby was ever in any danger. He was a profesional and loved his son. He will be missed.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

I don't think I'd like to be as famous as him.
I certainly wouldn't like to be as dead as him.
