I'm not that bothered. I think it was natural selection.
Many sensible people don't want to swim with bloody big dangerous fish, therefore they will never die this way. He chose to do it, which meant he paid the price.
As for caring about celebrities, we need to care more about other human beings that we know, rather than participate in the cult of popular mourning for those that we don't. It's false, serves no purpose and is in poor taste. It brings out the worst in people.
I don't dig it, anyway.

Sorry, I thought he was a great guy and I respected him a great deal for the work he was doing to save the animals that were losing their habitat. Did you know he would buy huge tracts of land to prevent them from being developed so that the animals in Australia still had a place to live?
No "crocodile" tears here ~ I am going to miss hearing about his adventures and watching him. He had an enthusiasm about him that made it contagious to want to save the world, one animal at a time.

there is no "phony" show here. just you passing judgement on everyone who doesnt have the same opinion you do. i was genuinely sad to hear he had died, as were alot of people, but im not crying about it, not looking for 15 minutes of fame, or trying to "pretend" it matters. i obviously didnt know the guy so im not gonna lose any sleep over it, but i think alot of people want to be able to do something or say something nice about him, and this is their only viable outlet. he seemed like a very likable guy, and he died so young. its called sympathy for the family and trying to pay tribute to a guy everyone liked and was so familiar with. have a bit of a heart would ya. if you dont have anything nice to say, then dont say anything at all.

The guy left a wife and two children behind and did a lot to make animals / wildlife interesting to children so, yes, I care. Will it have an effect on my life, I wouldn't expect so, but I wouldn't be so heartless to say that I don't care when someone dies.

Anyone who says they don't care when somebody dies is the one who is pretending. Either that, or they are so disattatched from they're own emotions that they feel no sympothy or compassion for other living beings. Steve Irwin was a good man. His death is heartbreaking to me.

Wow, compassion at its best. No, Steve Irwin's death does not affect me. But having lost my parents as a child, it makes me feel bad for the kids. They will never really know their dad.
The death of anyone, in the prime of life, is tragic....and maybe it isn't about how it affects us personally. Maybe is it about how it affects the loved ones of the person killed.

I care about his family and his children having to live without their father, but I can give two shits about Steve Irwin himself. He was another glorified person on TV that gets more respect in death then he did in life. Most people who are all boo hooing about it. Probably thought he was a fool on more then one occasion. They are hypocrites and posers.

His death has no effect on me. My life will go on as usual. I never watched his show, and probably won't now, but I am not going to say that his loss is something to make fun of. His family is hurting right now, and I have lost a loved one and felt that pain. Where as his death is nothing more than news to me, to them it is very real and nothing to be made fun of.

It never crossed my mind that he wasn't going to get himself killed one day. I said it a few times, but not by a fish that my daughter and I have stroked at our local aquarium in an open tank!
Anyone who doesn't care about someone who had passion and talent getting killed should crawl back under their stone and take solace that they have one less person to be jealous of.
