Chances are that your computer will only pick up one signal at a time, so it should be picking up the connectin from the wired router. It won't hurt anything to have it do wireless as well, but at a certain point it becomes a waste of power to keep it broadcasting.

It depends on what kind of rate your ISP is giving you as to which to use. But don't use BOTH that won't help. We have a wireless router we only use the wireless part for our DSs and my laptop, both desktop computers are actually plugged in.

You need to keep at least one computer connected to your router with a wire. That is because if something happens to your wireless, you will need to access your router to reset it.

Unless your DSL or cable service has a higher data rate than 54meg, it really doesn't matter. (Unless you are using your network to stream video/audio/games between multiple PCs - then you may want the higher bandwidth of the wired connection.)
