My parents are Christian and they told me the real reason we celebrate Christmas! The told me the issue with Santa Clause also but As a christian they told me and my brothers the reason fo rthe Holiday! Thats like a Jew not teaching their children the rituals of Passover! They would just celebrate it for the gifts and not really know the reason behind it! i knew like my brothers knew that Santa didn't come down our chimny to bring presents to us, it was Mom and Dad! And beside that we didn't have a chimny anyway! my mom and dad said things like "i'm santa, i buy your presents". so from that i would do the same for my children i will tell them the truth!

Because the Santa Clause side of christmas is a pagan festival and the last time i checked the church is against anything pagan
Yet very funny how all the major christian holidays fall on original pagan festivals, example easter is about fertility and spring. I smell a conspiricy

Well, it's ok not to teach them about Santa Clause, but are you sure you want to indicate your children to follow a religion which you yourself don't seem to follow as much yourself. You can't compare God to Santa Clause (Who technically did exsist, as a mortal of course, and years after his death he was proclaimed a saint.) It is up to each parent to show his children the faith in religion, if you don't belive in it you'll have a hard time transmiting the message to your kids. Goodluck tho.

My Pastor and his wife have taught their children about Santa Claus. They've explained to them that other families believe that there is a Santa Claus who dresses in a red suit and has a sleigh and reindeer. I suppose it is their choice what to teach their children.
Besides a Christian doesn't believe that God is made up. DUH! I'm a Christian and I believe in Santa Claus. He's in the living room in the recliner breathing oxygen probably sleeping by now.

i think that it might have somethin' to do with raisin' their child in their beliefs and part of those same beliefs would say that Christmas should be celebrated for the day that Jesus Christ was born first and foremost instead of tellin' them about a make believe being that has absolutely no redeeming qualities on a spiritual level.
