Yes, when I was a boy, I had a Chow-Chow who could climb ladders, fences, open doors and do anything it took to get out of the fence and go in the street. He really liked cars, but they didn't like him. Unfortunately, he managed to do that one time too often. Poor guy.

I had a miniature poodle named ROWDY a long time ago, and that dog was like greased lightning out the door every chance he got. Those of us in the house were hip to this, but visitors would have the door open before we could say "don't let the dog out" poof already he was gone.
He had jumped thru the window of a police car into the officers lap- was taken to the pound.
Found inside the gas station begging goodies from everyone- again taken to the pound.
Lastly, some couple found him and posted found signs, and I picked him up there.
He was a pure Pain in the butt. But we all loved him.

I had a Red Tail Boa named Grace who was an excellent escape artist! My dog Pitt named Nikki was the "runt" of the litter. She is very small (36 pounds) & very agile. From stand still position, she would jump up onto the 5 foot wood fence in the front yard and walk the entire parimeter. Like a cat. She has'nt done it in awhile as I was sucessful at breaking her of that habit.

I've had a few dogs that could slip out of their collars or escape from places they didn't feel like being.

One dog, Aggie, an elkhound/mix would escape from our dog pen by climbing onto the doghouse roof, then onto the garage roof and then jumping off (occasionally) or just hanging out on the roof. Another dog, Spike, wanted to be out of the house when he was left home alone and jumped out a second story window (he was fine, the window wasn't).

Yes! I have had dogs, cats and a bird that was an escape artist though nonething they did compares to my ferret Slinky! He put them to shame with his anitics! He's is the most natural escape artist I have ever had.......Once he open the lock on his cage! I tried differnt solutions but he got out! I eventually had to get a new cage with a differnt locking system...so far he hasn't gotten out......by himself..

Yes. A very clever hamster named Alexander the Small. He was able to stop his little spinny wheel thing and get it off it's stand in order to use it as a ladder to open the top door on his cage and escape. Once he got all the way through the house to my parent's room before we caught him.

Yes! My dog Champ! I bought a special harness device to use to restrain him in my car, and he worked his way out of it and escaped at a filling station. All I did was cracked the window enough for him to get some fresh air while I filled the tank, and he was out!

Now I don't bother restraining him in my car, because he will find a way to get out.

He also found a way to shake free of a leash. No lie! It just came unhooked, and off he went! I replaced that leash with one with another type of hook, that won't shake free, but he still tries. A couple minutes into every walk, he gives a full body shake, just in case....

Had a rat named Ross that ived in a bird type cage. We had to twist tie shut the cage. He would eventually chew thru the twist ties and you would wake up in the morning with a rat running around the house. Eventually moved him to a larger enclosure that he would get the lid off. Never could keep him in one place for long.

Yes, I had a housecat that was always trying to make her way out of the house.

The only time she ever came back in on her own accord was one time when it was snowing. She flew out the front door and landed like a cannonball in a snowdrift. She then ran back in to the house like a black streak!

Eventually she did escape from the house and we never saw her again. :(
