I want to help make this transition as easy for them as possible. My children are nervous. I thought if I gave them something to do it might ease their anxiety.

what you can do is love them and let them know that .
you love your children and help them comfortable, and the personal relationships is important too, so you can give them more places lovely and talk with the teachers ,take some opinions from counselor.

Have them sort through their things and pack them up, that way when they get to your new house, they know where their things are and can start unpacking and setting up their new rooms.

older sibling can help pack the younger one and unpoack into his new room

let them pack up their rooms, and stuff that CAN NOT break. it will make them feel like they are all grown up!
