I've been having a mental block concerning this word for the longest time.... please help me! lol

It's used to describe someone wanting to do or say something but someone else has just done it, and so it would be awkward because they did it first, so although the thought is there, it's not the same.

Madeleine L'Engle I know uses this word when Charles Wallace kisses Mrs. Whatsit after the conversation concerning her starhood, and Meg wants to kiss her as well, but feels it would be - and here I can't remember! I wish I had the book in front of me!!!

I've not read the book (but after reading summaries, I think now that I will!) Here's a website that may help you remember, or might give you the quote exactly. Good luck!

Redundant. Exceeds what is needed or normal. Also check your Thesaurus.

anti-climatic? Don't know the book you speak of.. and not sure that "awkward" is how I would describe anti-climatic, but it would fit the situations you describe.
