I have 4 kids and they all slept maybe 3-4 hours at a time the first few weeks or so, then added an extra hour or so after that. I nursed them. I did change them almost every time they woke up, but kept the lights really low, so they would not wake up totally. I rocked them and nursed them with only the tv on. Keeping the lights low and the noise level helped with mine not staying awake longer than it took for them to nurse.

Newborns should wake every 2 to 3 hours to eat.
Sleep when the baby sleeps.

My baby is 7 weeks old yesterday. She is by far the trickiest baby ive had(3 total). She finally....FINALLY sleeps 4 hours straight!! All I can really say is give it time. It does correct itself with some help. Make sure to wake baby constantly during the day. Turn the lights and noise level down about an hour before ved time to relax baby while feeding.

My daughter is 4 now, but as a newborn she was waking every 3 hrs to eat. If you are having trouble getting yours to sleep, trying giving her/him a warm bath, read quietly, dimming the lights and noise level. Anything you know that makes ya sleepy! Good luck!

When we first brought my son home, he needed to be fed every 2-3 hrs, so that's how long he slept at night, we had been keeping him downstairs because my hubby and I were taking shifts so we could get more than 3 hrs of sleep at night.
We started to dim the lights and turn off the TV at night so he could sleep longer, but he woke more often.
So when we finally brought him up to his room at around 6 weeks it was quiet and he woke every 3 hrs then we got a radio and he slept for about 5 hrs then woke himself because of his reflexes....so... we heard about the miracle blanket, bought it, play the radio and swaddle him good and he sleeps for about 7 hrs every night, he's 2 months yesterday!!
If your baby keeps waking himself because of his reflexes I highly recommend the miracle blanket, it's the only thing that can hold my boy.. www.miracleblanket.com

My son is eleven weeks old and has slept between seven and eight hours through since he was born. I know that I am very lucky with him, but it is important to set up a routine with your child right away. About an hour and a half before bedtime start with a warm bath with lavender if necessary it helps them to relax, then a warm bottle followed by a story or just some quite together time before you lay them down, let them fall asleep in their crib, when they fall asleep in your arms and wake in the crib some doctors say that it startles them and that gets them really worked up. (Don't let them cry themselves to sleep, if they are crying comfort them and then lay them back down.) Also, if you spend some quite time, about fifteen minutes to half an hour after they eat it will let their stomach digest a little bit and your baby may find it easier to fall asleep. Good luck and God Bless.

Two or three hours, tops. They have such tiny tummies that they need to eat that often. Sleep whenever baby sleeps, day or night. It'll get better. Eventually.
