Now we can get our bachelor or master online. There are plenty of univer. offer different programs. Cost is not very cheap. Usually $15 000 per year.
Is online master a valuable degree? What emloyers think about this kind of education? Does smbd have this (online) degree? Was it helpful for you?

I am student like you, and some of my friends are doing online courses so I would give you a frank opinion, I hope you dont mind , if incase you are open to real criticism then please read further.

1) online course cost - they are not cheap ok they are cheaper than regular college mostly if you take all the cost but look at the downside you can earn money when you are studying in college I have done that and its not tough. plus college gives you the chance for placment cell as well.

2) recognition - it depends on you field are you just getting a degree or are you planning a future , chances that you would be selected in a good master degree in the future are slim with an online degree, if this is your last degree thn this point aint importnat.

3)career - my friends are working in retail and they are mostly getting an online degree why because in that sector its not exactly important whether you have a college degree what matters as to how you sell.

4)determination- trust me it takes determination , you might come back from your shift at k-mart and then you have to sit in front of the computer to complete your assignment ......yes you might even get assignment which can downladed and would have to be sent back by you.

5) some employers .but only a few ones have started taking them equal to a distant learning course as online degrees are new therefore it would take sometime to gain acceptance.

be sure to check info from USA dept. of education dont just listen to counsellors who would talk about the ease and comfort first do some fact finding , if you get one which is not recognised by the govt, it would mean a lot of wastage.

in the end it depends on you if you want to study something like business then online is not a problem . but if you are planning to study in sciences then dont go for online. I have friends who have sold thier cars and worked for a few yrs but went to a regular college because they thought it was worth it. just make sure that you are in the right sector if you are taking the online degree.

All the Best

I have completed a Bachelor's degree online and am working on a Master's. The primary concern for you should be whether or not the institution is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, which can usually be determined affirmatively if the institution is eligible to receive Pell Grant and Subsized Student Loans. Otherwise the degree you receive may not be worth the paper it's printed on, let alone the paper you shell out for it.

Good luck.

I have two master of arts degrees - one online, one not. However, I got them both from public schools in my state. LOVED the online degree! I would recommend that format to anyone who is self-disciplined. As for the online schools, I do know of one person who got a degree from Pheonix Online. She was already employed at the local college, but was offered a job through Pheonix to teach for them once she finished. She took it. My personal opinion is that it is better to find an accredited public or private school that offers traditional programs. Get an online degree from one of them. Who wants to spend all of that time and money on something that could potentially be worthless?

I don't know whether the diploma is worth the paper that it's printed on. Do know that a lot of people have been sucked into taking on-line courses and that very few of them follow all the through with it.

I disagree with ownpool that employers do not value ranges from UOP. That being suggested, i'm no longer certain that software engineering or networking should be effectively taught on-line. i ought to seem at one in each and every of their floor campuses. Or yet another floor state of affairs.
