How old were you when you lost your faith in humanity? As I am getting older I am finding that my level of optimism is quickly departing. I wonder if the younger generation (Z) will even care about humanitarian efforts anymore. The move to suburbia has taken them away from the inneer cities and an understanding of true society.... Will mine (Gen X) be the last generation to do items like peace corps, volunteering, etc...?

Whoa! That is a serious question. I, too, look at society and wonder why it takes a disaster to wake people up. Why give once a year when a hurricane or tsunami hits? Disasters are happening everyday. Especially with our youth. If we don't stand up for what is right today, then Lil John will be the next president!

I'm past 25 but while I'm not nearly as optimistic and enthusiastic as I was in my early years, I am still hopeful. At least I believe it's still important to continue working for change of self and humanity.

I'm rather amazed that the 60's generation was referred to as the "me generation" when it seems as if the adults today are much more self-centered and less interested in humanitarian efforts. That being said I do see young people who are involved in these types of movements and that in itself is hopeful.

I would not expect anything from anyone today tomorrow or at any time in the future.
