How do you keep your energy up and keep your hand from cramping? I'm going to be working on a comic script due soon and I was wondering if anybody familiar to this sort of thing can help me find ways to keep my stamina up and stay enthusiastic about something that may take a couple weeks. Thank you for any and all replies.

The comics business is more demanding than a lot of people think, long hours to keep on schedule and the ability to draw anything you can think of. It's going to take a lot of willpower, but you can do it. Make sure you stretch, not just your hand, at least once an hour. Take a short break every hour so you are able to keep going.

Try listening to music you like, or even a movie or t.v. show while you draw. Pacing yourself is essential. Many artists also keep at the caffeine.

Good luck and have fun!

I don't know anything about hand cramping, but for stamina and enthusiasm, do something you REALLY don't like just before you start. That'll keep you motivated. To keep ideas running, screaming really loudly or doing handstands really helps.

i try to balance drawing with doing something else like reading up on past comics storylines, or doing something completely unrelated to writing/drawing...its pc gaming for me. you get to zone out on work and stretch your hands and fingers...
and never do anything that involves getting your hands wet.

take breaks when you feel your hand is giving up already. don't forve yourself to do everything at the same time. try walking and shaking your hand(to relieve cramping). get a breather once in a while.

Draw largely...it'll keep you loose and your renderings "flowing", and work in pencil to get the movements to your satisfaction, then maybe on another day do the inkwork.

i don't really do that kind of thing. but i do draw alot and i jux rest a lot too, it helps. sometimes i stretch my hands and stuff, that helps too, and sometimes i jux go for as long as i can until it hurts too bad, then i stop, wait, rest, stretch, and go again.

hope that helped!
