First call your internet provider. To keep you as a paying customer they have to make it work. I'm sure they will talk you through any settings etc. that is the problem.

Good Luck

I had this problem once. It was cause by the DNS server addresses not being set up correctly on my computer. You should be able to get this info from your ISP... try their website.

Once you have it, open Network Connections, right click the connection icon and click properties. You should see an item called "Internet Protocol". Double click it, select the "Use the following DNS server addresses" button, and enter the server addresses. Hit OK twice to exit the boxes, and it should work fine... assuming thats what the problem was. :p

i guess u r using bsnl dial up n u ve internal modem.. if thats the case, it happens.. hence bsnl sucks... hence i gotta broadband recently..

if u r using broadband of some other service provider, there are two possibilites:
their server has probs... wait for some time(even maybe 2 days)
ur net config is not correct.. i mean its not via ur service provider..
maybe something wrong in IP address..

if none is true, call back ur service provider to fix it...

Look under the File menu if the option "Work Offline"is checked. If this is the case uncheck it.

Check your firewall, disable and reenable your web connection, call your isp if those two things don't work.
