I recieve social security because my father died a year ago and my mother cannot work. I am 14 and live in the state of New Jersey. Can I still work without my social security check being reduced. Please don't leave rude comments or that I should give it up. My family is not in the financial position to do so.

Survivor benefits can be affected if you make over a certain amount per year in the same way regular Social Security benifits do. At 14 it is unlikley that you will be able to earn more than the $12,480 limit to continue reciving the same benefit you do now.
However I think that you should do whatever you can to continue your education in order to make a better life for you and your mother.

I am very happy to see that you are not only literate, but are willing to work in order to improve your situation. I really hope you continue your education, and move on to college.
I think your mother is a lucky parent to have a son like you. I also believe that you will be a very successful individual.
I do not have the answer to your question, but wish you the best.

I think you can. You will receive SS until your 18. There may be a limit on how much you can earn though. A quick call to SS will answer your question.
