Wow. That guy was really a driving force in the development of cable TV ratings in the late 90's-present.
I"ll say his death was a tragic inevitability. I didn't predict a stingray...I always thought a croc or gator would snag him. He and "Grizzly Man" were under the blind human optomism that animals in some way understand us as we understand them. That is bullshit. I won't say he got what was coming to him (as I do Grizzly Man), but he certainly died at the hands of mother nature.....and I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
RIP Steve.

Yes I just heard it on the news a few minutes ago I to thought that a croc. got him Instead it was a sting ray that did him in. What a crappy way to get taken out. At least he bought it doing something he enjoyed doing. R.I.P. Steve. We're Gonna Miss Ya.

Yes, it is sad and he will be deeply missed. It was just a freak accident because he was in scuba gear swimming above the stingray and the barb from the stingray puncture his heart. Its even sad that he left behind two small children and a wife.

I heard it on news 3 hrs ago, when I noticed the news casters were refering to him in the PAST tense.. so I went online to google news, and it was a featured story. kept on animal planet for a few hours, watching past specials on his life. he helped build that station, I'm glad they didnt' shy away from the awful news, and changed programming to honor him right away. (also they have a whole day of 'best of croc hunter' next Sunday sept 10th I think.

I would have to say you are about the only person on the planet who didn't know. It's been here all day hundreds of times per hour.

He'll be missed by his fans. We send his family our love. If stung on the legs or arms maybe he might have lived. I'm so glad that you posted CRICKEY! That's my favorite word of his.

Yes. I read that and heard that.
He died doing exactly what he loved doing all his life. I wonder how many of the rest of us will ever be able to die knowing that we did all that we wanted to do.
