This can be tough. I got married when I was 21 and my hubby and I had our first baby 3 months after our first anniversary. I have to admit, we were not ready, and immature in a lot of ways. Not only did we have a marriage to grow, but a new baby too. It was hard, the first year was a ride.
What really helped me was a good church family and pastor. We are very involved in our church, and I know that because we have God in our lives, well, He has helped us grow. Family has helped too, but sometimes family is a hindrance(butting in). Now, my hubby and I just celebrated our 6th anniversary and we have a 4 1/2 year old boy and a 1 1/2 little girl. Time flies very fast. Make sure that you keep your marriage special and spice up things for your hubby. Then their is your little one. They grow up too fast and make the most out of every day. You can do it! Today my marriage is stronger and I am so much in love with my hubby and I love being a Mom. You will see how rewarding it will be!!

It goes without saying that when you have a child you need to put them first even if your still a child yourself... Marriage is tough no matter what age you are... You have got to make time for each-other if you want the marriage to work and you have to be honest about your feelings with each-other... Change for the better to me means compromise from both of you, if you want a break ask him to mind the bub while you go and get your hair or nails done or coffee with the girls and then you repay the favor by letting him go and do something that he likes... This in my experience has made all the difference to my relationship...

I had my first child at 17 so i know all too well how difficult it is...

You don't really have an option if you care about your child and your marriage. Don't try and hang onto the friends from high school. Don't try and do the things your single friends do as you can't and it will just frustrate you. Put everything you have into your child and marriage. Take some college classes when the dad is home so you can continue to grow mentally. You'll be ok. It comes on gradually.

yours is not an easy answer. You got married to early in your life and have a baby already. Do your best at being a Mother and a wife. I hope your husband helps you with the kids and the home. I did and we had a happy family life. My wife was 19 when we married but she was 23 when we had our first child.

You will do just fine. It seems that you are already on the right track, wanting to do right by your family. But there's really no short answer to this...and I'm certainly not an expert, but if you want some encouragement, I'd be happy to share my experiences. Email me at dianne90578@yahoo.com. Best wishes. :-)

Edited comment to mamabear, who posted above me: Don't you think you're being a bit harsh?? It's not our right to judge her (or anyone else!) for getting married at the age she did. And I think she's pretty smart for being married before having a child. She's being proactive, asking the right questions, trying to do right. If you're not going to encourage someone when they clearly need it, then why did you answer this question? Geez. (Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.) All I'm saying is, can we be a little more understanding? That's all.

The most important thing you can do is try to think what is best for your child at all times. And when you are feeling lost, puzzled, frustrated, etc...ask someone for help. Never be afraid to ask for advice, or assistance when you need it. If you want to make things better, you've taken a very important first step. Good luck.

well just bc u have a kid dont mean u grow up fast it just means u dont get to do some of the things u want to do..and u have to be responsible for a lil life...just remember dont ever fight over money, kids, or small things that shouldnt really matter...i mean it all can be worked out ..instead of stressin out or gettin mad at each other when hard times come on u...be strong and positive and work on fixin it together if he gets all mad just tell him..thta u have each other and u will both work thru it together .no need to get all worked up over it...good luck

it is kinda late to grow up. don't you think you should have done that before you created a baby?go to parenting classes and to marriage counseling and hopefully that will help. i would like to know why you got married while you was still in school.
