I think it's important that a baby name means something. I'm so tired of kids being named names that are so common that 5 kids in the classroom have the same name, and it basically is meaningless to the parent. I picked names for my children that had strong significance to me and that I hope will become a part of their identity. Because I am a christian I chose names that reflected my faith but if you are into literature or music then I think it's just as acceptable to pick names of significance in that way. I knew a boy named Andrew (middle name) Jackson because his father admired that president. Also new someone named Trent because their mother admired history. When I picked my kids names, I used the bible but I also looked up the meanings so that the meaning of the name would become a part of them and I wrote a letter to each child about why I chose their name. Choose well.

Don't ask strangers about naming your baby.
Names should be a well thought out event. You have 9 months to come up with something.
I'm sure you have a favorite relative, actor, actress etc. Best way to remember that person.
I was named after Janet Leigh and middle name after an aunt.
Give it some thought,

Be aware that names have meaning. Don't give your baby a name just because it sounds cute. Do a little research on names and find a good one that you like.

Go get a baby name book, and read through the meanings. circle each meaning you like and then write out the names you like from those circled meanings. and then peice together a first and middle name that goes well with the childs last name.
meaning are very important. Names are more than just what we're called, theyre who we are.

Name advice - dont get all cutsie with a name - use normal name and normal spelling or the kid will be teased when older.. and it will be annoying to have to spell his name out all the time
best advice in general - stop at 1 child.. the world is grossly over populated and raising kids is costly (financially and time wise ) I am DISGUSTED with women who have 2 or more kids and complain about how tired or drained they are.. they should have thought of that sooner.. duh....

i would look at the way it sounds with the last name. and if i like the first name, then try t find one with a meaning i like also. here is a website that gives names, their origin, and their meaning. from this page you can search for just boy or girl names, or both, and you can look at just specific letters if you want, or just click find names and it will give you the whole list. http://www.babycenter.com/babyname
hope that helped.

Make sure the name doesn't rhyme with anything horrible or have any bad nicknames (for example, Richard...). Just remember, if your kid gets made fun of or beat up for having a weird or bad name it is your fault and you will scar your kid for life. Just go with something nice and timeless. That doesn't mean boring--just nothing crazy or pornstar-ish.
