Yes he is. He died when a stingray pierced his heart. Such a rare incident and so tragic. He was such an entertainer and he will be sorely missed.

Steve Irwin died on 9/4/06 at 11:00 a.m. after being stabbed in the chest by a sting ray.

Yes. He was killed by a sting ray. It was a terrible accident; he was filming a segment on sting rays when the large ray paniced. A man with an underwater camera was in front of the ray above it as it advanced forward, with Steve behind it very close... when the ray became aware that it was surrounded, it raised its barb and attacked Steve, its barb slicing between steves ribs into his heart, between the poison on the barb and the loss of blood, Steve died within moments of the attack... there was nothing that could be done for him; as the poison stopped his heart even before he bled out. I am sorry... when I heard about this it made me cry.... its almost like losing a family member to me, I loved watching him & Terri tackle all kinds of things.

Yes,Sadly he is. He was stung by a Stingray and the barb pierced his heart. SO SAD.

Yes, he was killed by a sting ray barb that went through his rib cage and pierced a hole in his heart. And he didn't even provoke it!!

yes he was sadly he has dies...the tail or wateva the thing is called pierced his heart...u would think the person that get point blank to poisonous animals would live to continue to tell us about animals...but ya its sad
