The compressor is probably stuck.

Take a rubber mallet, and smack it a few times, very hard, or even a wooden mallet..(DONT USE METAL!!).

After you do this, wait awhile, then if it doesnt work still in an hour or so, then smack it again.

Keep doing this for a few times.

If it doesnt work still your freon is low and you have to get it charged again...

(The problem with freon being low, it means you have a leak, and it will keep leaking even though you get it charged up again, so, its best to just go get another freezer).

I wish you well..

Jesse

There could be numerous causes. The most likely is the loss of refrigerant, the compressor is running but there isn't sufficent refrigerant to evaporate in the coils and cool/freeze the inside. You might also check and make sure the "cooling coils" on the back or bottom are clean. If they are covered with years of dust, the evaporation system, hence cooling, will not work properly. Checking for dirt on the coils is the cheapest - calling a repair person would probable exceed the cost of a new refrigerator at Walmart.

Slide it out from the wall and make sure the fan blade is moving, If not, Unplug it and try spinning it by hand. It should free up, Might even have a lil trash back in the blade, Plug it back in. If blade is spinning, Probably low on charge.

Sounds like the compressor may be burned up to me, they will hum but their not running, frozen up as in stuck, . compressor dead. Anymore it's cheaper to go buy a new one than to try to replace the compressor, they cost almost as much as a new freezer.

needs a freon charge, if it still doesn't work after that then it has a leak in the cooling system

Bought one in Home Depot for $100. It's undercounter, is absolutely silent and freezes well. I sprayed it black to match the other appliances. Used automotive paint.
