Ok, I know it is a dumb question, but the reason I ask is because, I am on cycle day 22, been testing for ov since the end of my period. Been negative every day but I have been having sex. My last cycle was 37 days long, I am usually about 31 though. Just wondering what the heck is up with my body!!! Thanks

When you are pregnant you produce the HCG and that is what gives you a positive test. If you are getting two lines that are similar in color on an ovulation test... then you are not pregnant... and just because one line shows up means that you are not anywhere close to the LH surge. More than likely you are just stressed. Just try to relax a bit... especially if you are trying to conceive... good luck!!

you dont ovulate when you're pregnant, if you're pregnant you already ovulated and the hormone responcible for causing that action would not be detectable on a test strip. Instead a new hormone, the human growth hormone, would be building up in your system until eventually it would be easily detectable in your urine by a test designed to read it.

It is human chorionic gonadotropin, NOT human growth hormone.
