Question

how can kakashi have the sharigan eye? i thought sasuke and itachi were the only survivors of the clan. also, how come he only has it on one of his eyes? also, what happened, there's a scar on his eye?

when he was young, one of his teamates was an uchiha (obito uchiha). as the story says, kakashi, became a jonin at a young age and to celebrate it he recieved gifts from his sensei (the fourth hokage) and his other teamate rin. obito forgot to get him a gift and i guess he gets annoyed by kakashi and says that when he awakens his sharingan, he will surpass kakashi. later on, they are sent to the rock country on a mission and come face to face with foes. one of them attack obito and is rescued by the fourth and kakashi calls obito a coward for not doing anything. obito asks the fourth why he acts like that and he tells him how Kakashi's legendary father, Sakumo Hatake (also known as Konoha's White Fang), killed himself after the village looked down on him for rescuing his teammates rather than completing his mission. after that the team splits up (fourth in one and rin, obito and kakashi in the other) and head further into the rock country. two rock shinobi appear, ambush them, capture rin and flee. Obito tells Kakashi he is going after Rin but Kakashi says they should complete their mission. Obito yells at Kakashi telling him his father was a true hero when he protected his precious friends. Obito then goes off on his own to save Rin. later on, obito arrives at the location but is snuck up on by a rock shinobi. kakashi arrives but gets his left eye slashed in the process (see where we're going from here!). from here, obito starts crying and his sharingan is activated in the process. they defeat the rock shinobi and rescue rin but obito notices a falling rock heading for kakashi and throws him out of the way crushing his entire right side in the process. knowing he'll die, he asks rin to remove his eye and offers Kakashi his Sharingan-capable, intact left eye as a belated promotion present and final gift to Kakashi for being promoted to Jonin. Obito tells Kakashi he is a great ninja and that he can become Kakashi's eye and help them all live on.

Kakashi got his Sharingan from his team mate, Obito Uchiha. They were on a mission to blow up a bridge and Rin, the third teammate, waas captured. Obito wanted to save her and ended up getting squished by a boulder. just before this, kakashi had achieved Jonin and obito was the oly one on the team who hadn't given him anything.
During the mission, kakashi had lost his left eye, so Obito, as he was dying, 'bequeathed' his to kakashi. The eye that obito gave him was his sharingan eye. Rin, who was a medic kunoichi, did the transplant once they got her back.
The reason he covers it up, though, is because it is always active. he covers it to save his chakra.
the whole story is kinda sad and weird.

Now the story how kakashi got his sharingan:


During a mission, Kakashi's teammate Rin was captured by an enemy shinobi. Obito wanted to save her, but Kakashi said they had to focus on the mission, opting not to make the same mistake his father had. Though Kakashi believed that they had to complete their objective, Obito eventually convinced him that his father had done the right thing, causing Kakashi to join in on the rescue effort.

During their attempt to save Rin, Kakashi loses his left eye as a result of an enemy ninja's attack. To protect Kakashi, Obito manages to awaken his Sharingan, and kills Kakashi's assailant. Soon after saving Rin, Obito again saves Kakashi, pushing him out of the way of another enemy's rock-dislodging attack, but becomes crushed in the process.

Shortly before he died, Obito had Rin (a medical ninja) implant his Sharingan eye in Kakashi's damaged eye socket as a gift, thus creating Copy Ninja Kakashi. As his first act, Kakashi avenges Obito by killing the enemy ninja with his now-perfected One Thousand Birds technique.
