If you want to go to UT, stick to working on that. Yeah, enter scholarship competitions for sure. Pay attention to your courses, choose your major and find out what you can take in high school that will be prerequisites (nothing worse than wanting to take something in college and not having the high school prerequisite).

More importantly, LEARN HOW TO LEARN. In other words, learn good study habits, test-taking skills, time-management skills. Invest some of your spare time in visiting sites that teach you how to be a good student, you can practice these things in high school so you'll be ready for college. An astounding number of college students do not know how to study, write exams, deal with stress, organize their time, and it finishes them. Don't be one of them.

Start working now, do odd jobs for people in your neighborhood and SAVE the money. Ask your parents to set up an account for you that you cant get at so you arent tempted. When you get to be 14-15 get a job in fast food or at a grocery store and work 15-20 hours a week, it isnt hard to juggle school and work in HS. When you are 16 get a better paying job at a gas station or a retail store and move it up to 25-30 hours a aweek. SAVE at least 50% of your pay
You will miss out on some social activities, but you will be prepared for college and the real world beyond.

OSU is a few grand cheaper, but you should really go to a school you enjoy. Whichever one you go to, you should start taking classes that relate to what field you want to go into. Also, start trying now for scholarships, as most scholarship and essay contests pay you no matter what school you get into.

If you do well in school you may be able to get some scholarships to anywhere. You shouldn't be too sure where you're going to go to school yet as you still have five years or so. What happens if your family moves between now and college?
Focus on making yourself look good to any college. You can always apply for scholarships when you get into High School.

Work hard in High School, and you will have plenty of options.

I don't suppose you can talk your parents into moving to Texas, can you?
