I would build evreyone a house one by one. I think that if Bush is so godly then he shold give most of the money he has to them. If bush is so smart he woldnt be fighting in Iraq and we could put all the money he is spending over there into New Orleans.

Blaming Ray Nagin (the mayor) is like saying that the astronauts didn't do the right thing when the space shuttle blew up. He is only a mayor, it was WAY out of his league. And if the feds are so on top of things, just why were the CANADIAN MOUNTIES able to make it to NOLA before any American relief organization?

As to "nuking the place," New Orleans is one of the most important ports in America; we *need* it actually. Even if we rebuild a different city someplace else (an idea I find offensive and insulting) the USA still needs a port at the mouth of the Mississippi, and that port and the people who live there to work at that port will be just as vulnerable as New Orleans.

As to being expected to "kiss every black a@@ in America", the BASE payout for the relatives of people related to victims of the World Trade Center bombings was 250 THOUSAND dollars. This was tax money. (Katrina victims got what? 2 thousand dollar credit cards from WalMart, was it?) We (taxpayers) also got to bail out Enron, and the airlines, etc etc ad naseum.... My point is that you are kissing plenty of white a@@ too, and often RICH white a@@ I might add.

Blaming the citizens of NOLA (which is what you are doing by saying we shouldn't rebuild) is the same as blaming the rape victim. Even staunch Libertarians generally agree that one of the few uses of a gov't is to protect its citizenry. The technology needed exists; our gov't decide to go cheap and NOT protect those people. We didn't pay then, so YES we should pay now. I'd rather tax dollars go there than to kill people in foreign countries.

Finally, to answer the question, what should be done is to raise the area with a clean landfill, then put in a levee system like Holland has. They are THIRTY feet below sea level. New Orleans is 10 at its lowest point. The people in Holland are absolutely appalled that this was allowed to happen. We should be too, there was no reason for it.

The first thing I would do is find out where the millions of dollars are that the government has sent to help rebuild new Orleans............. Then I would have a seperate rebuilding loan set up special in two different banks, swear in the head of the bank to see to it that the money loaned out for repair, went for repair by getting receipts for every penny spent......Apparently no one in New Orleans can be trusted...They just want to complain that there is not enough spent..............Show me where you have spent the money so far Ray Nagin

Allow the citizens of New Orleans to sue the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for damages caused by their admitted negligence.

Put the people who are displaced to work, building several small towns on higher ground, connected by mass transportation systems and surrounded by small farms. Tax the oil flow in the gulf to pay for it.

I'd let them clean up their own mess with their own money. No body helps me when my fence gets blown down by a major storm. No one will help me if my house is burned to the ground by criminals or even by accident. No one will help me do anything. But then again, I'm white and I don't deserve help. It is my job to kiss every black @$$ on the planet freaking earth.

I would go to the 9th ward, and help rebuild myself. I would goto the shops and clean the debris, rather than take a few pictures and leave. I would take to my fellow people and raise their hopes up.

Hire Halaburton, get rid of the government bureaucracy, and contract them to rebuild. It would get done, and it would cost less.

I'd make sure that the levees are built strong to withstand any kind of hurricane. After that, I'd make sure the people who were displaced were made whole again.......

Move everybody elsewhere and then nuke the empty city. It's more trouble than it's worth now.
