Don't feel all that abandoned; those of us who work in the field can't get decent information from them either.
However, if you go (don't call, it just annoys them) to the dealer's parts department, many times they are nice enough to show you an illustration, but it doesn't always give instructions for removal/replacement, torque specs etc. But you CAN see where you need to be.
If it doesn't help all that much, then ask if there is someone who could explain it to you.
ONE CAVEAT--->The shop gets paid for its time. That is why they are there.
They aren't there to repair cars; that is what they do, but they are there to MAKE MONEY! So don't be annoyed if they seem unwilling to help you.
If you take a lot of their time, you cost them money. The mechanic gets paid for what he does, so he might be unwilling to stand around trying to explain something to you when he could be making money on the floor.
In addition, you are asking them to tell you how to do what they get paid for. It is a bit of a conflict of interest.
All that said, Good Luck

Go to your local Carquest that's where I work and they will tell you no problem. And yes even if you're a woman. Because that's me and I am the head counterperson...... not to bragg though.
