Honestly, I've watched the show since it started and I love the guy. He was right up my alley......and taught me a lot about loving those who aren't so lovable. I was shocked and saddened by his death...I've been in a funk about it all day. I think it's unfair to say that it was "bound to happen." Many people work at their passion everyday and some do die while doing it, but it's not cool to say it was bound to happen. He was a great man and will be missed. I'm just happy in a way that he went out doing what he loved most and that was working with animals. My condolences to his family and friends. Peace.

Steve Irwin was the male version of Princess Diana.

By that I mean that he managed to touch something in us through his style and personality, even while being a less important person than, for example, Mother Teresa (who died at almost the same time as Pricess Di but received far less attention).

Like at this point I am really tired of hearing about it. Let's be honest, all of your lives go on unscathed, even though hundreds of people post stuff about Irwin by the second! Enough! People die every day around the globe, the very young to the very old. He is gone. Life goes on. Peace to his family

It's a terrible loss. His engaging personality, fervor, knowledge and experience cannot be replaced. But, really, this was an accident waiting to happen. He put himself in places that no one else ever did, for our education, we we learned from much from that. I'll assure you now, that folks will be more cautious when approaching rays from now on. I'm sure Steve didn't think he was in much danger, but he, like all the animals he exposed us to, was a wild animal himself.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

I think it was the way he would have wanted to go. And it's funny cause stingrays, by numbers, aren't nearly as dangerous as other animals. Still, I find it depressing, I liked him.
