I know it echoes the myth of Orpheus, but, if there is a modern novel this movie is based on, I'd love to read it.

It was written by Richard Matheson is also famous for writing many Twilight Zone episodes as well as the twice made into movie form I Am Legend which starred Vincent Price as Last on on Earth and then again with Charlton Heston in The Omega Man. Will Smith will be in the 3rd adaptation.

there is a book by the same name..can't remember the author..the book was actually better than the movie..be sure to read it ..have a good day
