i keep my door locked so they would have to wait until i got out

They do not get the opportunity. I like to think of my time using the restroom as my private time. I need to concentrate you know. So the door is locked and I will only yell one sentence through the door if I have to communicate with someone.The content of the sentence is different each time but the meaning is clear.
Payback is not nice when Mom is the one thinking up the payback.
They know this from experiences with me telling their friends on the phone that they are in the bathroom and going in to great detail as to what I think they are doing in there, to me standing outside the bathroom door with the phone in my hand having a 3 way conversation with their friend and them with me as the shouting go between. It is comical to see their faces and then when they have the audacity to get angry, I just remind them of the day at the bathroom door that whatever they had to know could not wait for me to come out in my good time. If the house is not on fire then it can wait. If your not drowning in the sink it can wait, if your father is not bleeding or has a bone sticking through the skin it can wait.
After all how much time can it take for them to leave me alone for that time. No enough for them to realize early on that I am a human being and that respect for the one thing I ask is not to much to ask.

That's pretty normal in my house, but my daughter is only three so we still have an open door bathroom rapport

I tell them they can wait one minute and when i get out they can tell me! My kids are 5&6 and always seem to wait til I go potty to want to tell me stuff!!!! They say ok and they get out..lol...
