Is it true that Russia/Ukraine is racist? I may be visiting either area soon and I'm bi-racial (I look latina but I'm half black half white). I know Russian...maybe that'll help me get along with the people? I'm from the USA and don't encounter much racism bbut I've never traveled so far before.

You are lucky and wise! Lucky you are doing such trip, wise since you learn such an important language!
Compare to most people, Russians and Ukrainians are not so racist! They are nice people and you will have no relative problem! On the contrary, they will appreciate you know their language and will be helpful and also suspicious, somehow! Wouldn't;t every one be? But, you will enjoy and learn a lot! They are nice people! You should be yourself and strong, not only in Russia and Ukraine but all the time and everywhere!
Visiting Russia was very exciting! A dynamic country with educated people! Nice structures and how could it be different? They are a superpower, have long history, have made and took great initiatives and most of the population is University graduate!

Sweetheart, everywhere you go now a days you are going to experience some type of racism. that is the way the world is.
Because you know Russian, whether a little bit or a lot, that may make it a little easier for you. Because, there may be some Russians who may be interested in someone wanting to know their language as opposed to French, Spanish, Italian, you know "languages of love".

There are skinheads in Russia but I don´t think that you have to worry about them since you doesn´t come from Caucasus/Chechnya!
The racists will see that you are from the West since you wear clothes from USA. You look rich for them and rich = westerner. They are only after those poor people.
