Steve Irwin was an amazing individual. We all know of his love and knowledge of animals. But couldn't we all appreciate his energy, zest, optimism, and genuine nature? I'll miss him for sure not just because of his celebrity status. We should all have the kind of enthusiasm that he did concerning things we are passionate about. May God bless him and his family and fans.

Actually judging from his shows, I dun really approve the way Steve antagonise the animals into showing off their defences. His success has spurred many 'copy-cat' programs. I guess this time he is over-confidence and mis-judge the stingray.

It is wrong n it may give wrong impression that animals can be treated the same way they did.

The truth is...I'm not really surprise tat he got killed in his work...seeing the way he handles the crocs, snakes n sharks...bt death by stingray is not very expected. They are known 2b very passive animals. He must hve really 'threatened' the ray 2 warrant such attack.

I juz hope his fans will not take revenge by eating more BBQ stingrays or skates.

Bt ultimately, I guess he did it 4 the audience. His objective and intentions are good as he wans 2 educate the public...and he died living his passion...

Steve Irwin did his little part in wildlife conservation by setting a zoo n programs 2 educate. He is a good man with honourable intentions....and I hope his family well...esp...his 2 young children...

omg, i'm going to miss him. he was really a special guy. he was only 44 when he died! i found it really freaky when i herd that only 3 other ppl died from the barb of a sting ray. thats just really beating the odds. i feel bad for his wife and kids, i hope they'll be ok. at least he got to die doing something he loves to do, teaching us about animals! that was like the only cool show on animal planet, or at least how he made that channel popular...he got to entertain and educate so many people in a unique and cool way though. when people say that steve irwin is an idiot just by facing wild animals all the time and saying "crikey!" (which i love dat catchphrase by the way) they are the idiots cuz he was doing it for a reason-i would like to see them put themselves in his place. he was probably the most famous austrailian ever!

may he rest in peace. he shall be missed :(

Steve Irwin was a great humanitarian. He rescued the innocent. He taught us so much about animal life. The good, the bad and the dangerous. His wife too shared his passion. From the great great big creatures, to the tiny tiny little ones. He treated them all with awe and respect, and taught us too that all creation deserves to be appreciated and protected. He will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family and close friends. This is a sad day friends. A good and kind man has died.

Yes I liked him. He had a gift he shared with the world.

People who are nasty saying he deserved this or was an idiot are the same low life low IQ scum sucking pigs who spends 8 hrs in a cubicle or working the drive thru at McDonald's. At least Steve DIED DOING what HE LOVED, educating people about wildlife.
Yes It was only a matter of time before something like this happened BUT IN reality before this incident there have only been 3 deaths from a stingray sting in the last century.

The way the sting ray stung him, it basically ripped his aorta, he probably died within minutes and didn't feel any pain except the initial sting.

I wish the people with no dignity would stop saying ugly things. There are losers and people who watch through windows and its easy for them to talk trash. Then there are those who spread their wings and soar, thanks for the memories Steve

i don't understand the telephone variety, yet regrettably Steve Irwin is now not residing. A stingray stung him interior the heart. This has been whilst in comparison with a proffessional dogs walker being eaten with the help of a poodle (in different words it became some variety freak twist of fate and became the main unlikely way he might desire to die). extraordinarily strange. And unhappy, that guy became cool.

I'm a yankee that thought that Steve was awesome and very adorable. I think he knew what he was doing 95 percent of the time which I think is more than many of us can say. Anyone that says he had it coming is wrong because we all take risks in our lives and with him being such an expert in his field he is no different than any professional that has to deal with dangerous conditions. Along with being entertaining I think he was a great teacher for anyone who might encounter any of these dangerous animals.
My condolences to the people of Australia and his family. Us Yankees will miss him greatly.
