prolly got ich. if not, keep in mind the exotic goldfish like fantails and the googley eyed ones are like that becuz people breeded them to have GENETIC DEFECTS.. and they have alot of other defects you can;t see - so they dont live as long as plain regular goldfish.

So, your fish did the other day, huh? Did what? I assume you meant "died" and not "did," eh?
Have you ever done a water change on his tank? Or did you just keep him in a bowl and feed him? Was there a filter? Did you clean it regularly? What was the water temp? Did you leave him in direct sunlight?
You actually gave no information except for the black spot which he could have been born with.

There really aren't any deadly diseases that have just a black spot. With gold fish it's generally over feeding, and dirty water that kills them. Review the below link for details on goldfish care, and the one on diagnosing disease.

you need to be very specific (bear in mind we are not there and cannot see what you can see).
you will need to specify: the age of the fish, how you you had had him, feeding regiment, tank setup, water chemistry tests, etc. before anyone can even guess and answer.

you couldn't have pay agood attention for your cute fish, i had also abeautiful collection of fish ,but i didn't pay those fish an intensive care, and neither did you ,so i think you didn't change the water, i mean you keep the water dirty for long time ,and this black spot is an illness, also my gold fish had a red spot and also died so i advice you to care for those fish and feed your fish regularly it is v.i thing to do................................

Hard to say - the black spot may have just been his/her coloring, and nothing more. How were your water parameters? Assuming they were where they are supposed to be, and your water temp didn't take any drastic dips or spikes in temp - it could have just been from age.
How long had you had him/her?

Could have been a lot of reasons... Maybe age, or he could have been sick, or just his time...
